Meet Ms. Banas

5th Grade Teacher

Ms. Banas was raised on the central coast in San Luis Obispo, CA. She attended Old Mission School where her desire to become a teacher began. While at Mission College Prep High School, she returned to volunteer at the elementary school and her love for working with children grew. During this time, she also volunteered at the First Tee Central Coast golf program.

Ms. Banas graduated Summa Cum Laude from Dominican University of California with a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies/Teacher Education. She also received minors in English, History, and Cognitive and Experimental Science, earning membership in Sigma Tau Delta and Phi Alpha Theta.

Ms. Banas has teaching experience in Kindergarten, 1st, 4th and 5th grade. She has worked with ELL students, as well as special needs children.

As this year’s fifth grade class prepares for their transition into middle school, Ms. Banas’ goals are for the students to further develop confidence in their abilities, increase their independence, improve problem-solving techniques, acquire more advanced listening and responding skills, develop further collaboration abilities, and to continue developing into thoughtful, caring, socially responsible leaders of tomorrow.
