Bio

Lucy Wilson is the Spanish teacher for TK through 4th Grade.  She is a native Spanish speaker from Central Mexico, from the Mexican state of San Luis Potosi, who was born and raised in the capital, San Luis Potosi.  Lucy has been teaching Spanish for 8 years; tutoring children whose ages range from kindergarten to 8th grade, and teaching conversational classes for children who attend Spanish immersion schools. Lucy also taught at an enrichment program at the Farragut School in Culver City prior to coming to Visitation. The 2023-2024 school year is her second year at Visitation School, which she truly loves.  She also teaches Spanish at St. Lawrence Catholic School in Redondo Beach.

​Lucy believes in inspiring and motivating her students to learn Spanish, or any other foreign language, through the process of application.  She has the children play games, watch videos, and communicate with each other just as if they were growing up in a country that speaks Spanish.  Children learn from action and fun, not from homework and memorization.  She utilizes singing, dancing and games to reinforce the use of the vocabulary she is teaching so that the children absorb and retain it.  Learning Spanish should be fun and Lucy brings that to every class she teaches.  Her students look forward to the days that they get to have Spanish class.

Lucy came to the United States, initially as a high school foreign exchange student in Washington State.  She met her future husband that year and became lifelong friends. She lives in Playa Del Rey with her husband and two bilingual children.  They attend mass regularly at their local parish.  Lucy has a son, Alex Wilson, who graduated from Loyola High school.  She also has a daughter, Anya Wilson who is a junior at Notre Dame High School.  She enjoys skiing, walks at the beach, and enjoying family life.
